Joanna Hope

I’m Joanna Hope Tsai! I am a product strategist by day and artist by night, with a passion for creating meaningful products that help others. 


I was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs outside of DC and later moved to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University. Here I received my B.S. in Economics and B.A. in Business Administration with a minor in Healthcare Policy and Management.

After college, I was lucky to land a dream job with Capital One Labs in Northern Virginia. Through being a product manager, design strategist, and UX designer, I learned how to build human-centered products by applying the foundations of design thinking and marrying it with business needs.  After 5 years with Capital One, I moved to SF to join Visa's Innovation Lab as a Product Manager where I got to work with our strategic partners to conceptualize, design, and build new experiences at the intersection of payments and technology. I recently returned to Capital One to lead Mainstreet Card’s Customer Experience and Financial Well-being.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring other creative outlets such as painting, ceramics, and interior decorating- passions that have organically formed my Joanna Hope Art business and brand.

On a personal note, on March 13, 2018 I was attacked while walking home from work. The incident left me with significant but short-term physical injuries, and I have since moved back to the greater DC area (with my husband and our dog) as we enter a new season focused on healing and managing PTSD.
